Landau theory of charge-density waves in transition-metal dichalcogenides

摘要: A Landau theory is proposed for charge-density waves (CDW) in transition-metal dichalcogenides with the charge density as an order parameter. The predicts sequence of phases, normal-state---incommensurate-CDW---commensurate-CDW decreasing temperature, separated by first-order phase transitions. peaks lie at "lattice sites" a hexagonal crystal and incommensurate case phononlike distortions CDW "lattice" well dislocations. Impurities pin wave, broaden transitions, stabilize state relative to commensurate state.
