摘要: The objective of the current research work is to study differences between predicted ablation volume in homogeneous and heterogeneous models typical radiofrequency (RF) procedures for pain relief. A three-dimensional computational domain comprising realistic anatomy target tissue was considered present study. comparative analysis conducted three different scenarios: (a) a completely only muscle tissue, (b) nerve tissues, (c) bone, tissues. Finite-element-based simulations were performed compute temperature electrical field distribution during conventional RF treating pain, exemplified here continuous case. results reveal that consideration heterogeneity within distorted electric leads significant reduction attained application findings this could provide first-hand quantitative information clinical practitioners about impact such heterogeneities on efficacy procedures, thereby assisting them developing standardized optimal protocols cases interest.
