摘要: A model baiting system suitable for the delivery of an oral rabies vaccine to free-ranging raccoons (Procyon lotor) was developed and tested on barrier islands in South Carolina (USA). Features island physiography ecology were studied relative selective bait deployment site biosecurity. Capture-mark-recapture data obtained from 228 raccoons. Raccoon density estimates, using a modified census assessment technique, one raccoon per 1.8 2.7 ha. Mean (±SE) range home area estimates radio-collared 84 (±15.6) ha (27 176 ha) by minimum convex polygon method 138 (±22.8) (43 241 ha), harmonic mean transformation method.
