摘要: Primary bile acids were studied as possible colon tumor promoters or inhibitors in a rat model of chemically induced cancer. Cholic acid feeding increased the number animals with tumors, tumors per animal, and tumor-bearing animal. Tumor enhancement was attributed to deoxycholic acid, bacterial metabolite cholic acid. When chenodeoxycholic fed rats our model, incidence increased, but animal similar controls. The different fecal pattern obtained may be responsible for differences incidence. methodology characterize identify all steroidal components feces requires extraction, thin-layer chromatography, gas-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Newer techniques include LH-20 chromatography (for sulfated steroids) high-pressure liquid chromatography.
