摘要: Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is receiving much attention being promoted as an important low-carbon technology. This paper communicates key insights conclusions from a larger study that conducted review work, policy analysis, interviews with actors in the global CCS community (Varnas et al., 2012). No judgment made of desirability choosing low carbon technology option, but if this indeed pursued, four challenges are found to be 10 times greater than often recognized. These are; (i) tenfold up-scaling size (MW) pilot plants commercial demonstration, (ii) increase number large scale demonstration actually constructed, (iii) available annual funding over coming 40 years and, (iv) price put on dioxide emissions. It clear current development path will not fulfil expectations commercially at end decade, nor widely applied time for significant contributions needed CO2 emission reductions. only developed policymakers continue favour coal based power generation while simultaneously developing stringent climate policy.
