摘要: Forest pests can cause massive ecological and economic damage worldwide. Ecologically-sound solutions to diminish forest insect pest impacts include the use of their natural enemies, such as predators parasitoids, well entomopathogenic fungi, bacteria or viruses. Phytochemical compounds mediate most interactions between these organisms, but knowledge chemically-mediated multitrophic relationships is still at its infancy for systems, particularly when compared agricultural systems. Here, we highlight main gaps in how phytochemicals trees facilitate interfere with trophic trees, herbivores, interacting organisms including predators, parasitoids microbes. We propose future avenues research on phytochemical-based biocontrol taking into account characteristics forests.
