摘要: Methane production and methane oxidation potential were measured in a 30 cm peat core from the Moorhouse Nature Reserve, UK. The distribution of known groups methanogens oxidizing bacteria throughout this was assessed. Using 16S rRNA gene retrieval functional probing with genes encoding key proteins methanogenesis, several major microorganisms detected. detected all depths core. PCR amplification oligonucleotide experiments using DNA isolated sections methanotrophs Methylosinus Methylococcus Methanosarcinaceae, Methanococcaceae, Methanobacteriaceae. rDNA sequences amplified Methylosinus-specific primer shown to have high degree identity previously acidic environments. However, no methanogen by probes available study (above 7 cm) where majority methanogenesis occurred, either because low numbers or presence novel sequences.
