摘要: Melatonin, the popular hormone of darkness, is primarily synthesized in pineal gland, and acts classically through G-protein coupled plasma membrane melatonin receptors MT1 MT2, respectively. Although some receptor mediated functions melatonin, especially those on (central) circadian system, have been more or less clarified, functional meaning MT-receptors various peripheral organs are still not sufficiently investigated yet. There is, however, accumulating evidence for oncostatic effects with both, antioxidative MT-receptor mechanisms possibly playing a role. This review briefly summarizes physiology MT-receptors, discusses expression function human cancer cells tissues.
