摘要: ABSTRACT Introduction Regular use of vaginal dilators has been recommended as a prophylactic measure following radiation treatment for gynecological cancers in order to minimize stenosis and promote optimal healing the vagina. Despite well‐established reluctance women adopt this practice, little is known about difficulties concerns associated with dilator use. Aim To investigate women's experiences understand psychosocial factors that influence adoption rehabilitative Methods This an exploratory qualitative study using semi‐structured interviews sample 10 history cancer who were prescribed dilator. Interviews analyzed grounded theory method examined recurrent themes. Main Outcome Measure The main outcome was interview comprised open‐ended questions designed elicit information concerning topic areas relevant cancer, use, sexuality. Results analysis resulted five categories underlying core category "From ‘Sex Toy' Intrusive Imposition." These were: (i) embarrassing sex toy; (ii) reliving invasion treatment; (iii) aversive "hands‐on" experience; (iv) not at forefront my recovery; (v) minimizing resistance. Conclusions Rehabilitative complex, multifaceted, personal phenomenon carries deep psychological emotional implications make it intrusive. findings may enhance way which are introduced help healthcare providers address better dilators.
