摘要: Background: Periodontal diseases and dental caries are the most prevalent affecting people worldwide. According to health action process approach (HAPA), participants should first be informed about risks benefits encouraged form a behavioral intention adopt better oral self-care.Then guided generate plans control their behavior. However, research has not addressed validity of this putative sequence. Thus, study evaluates effectiveness two subsequent flossing interventions (Motivational vs. Self-regulatory), placed in different order test superiority Methods: Young adults(N=205, aged 18–26 years) were allocated treatment groups (Sequence 1 Sequence 2) at three assessment points, 34 days apart Spring 2013. received motivational intervention followed by self-regulatory intervention. 2 group same treatments, but opposite order. ANOVAs ANCOVAs conducted with flossing, self-efficacy, planning, as dependent variables sequence conditions within subject factor. Results: Both sequences yielded gains terms all variables. was found have negligible effect, i.e., overall attained even without it. At Time 2, those who had first, superior counterparts first. T 3, differences vanished everyone then both treatments. Conclusions: This explored unique way sequencing behavior interventions. Findings highlight advantage over Keywords: self-regulation, intervention, self-care, control, young adults.
