Perfectionism and attachment style as factors relating to adjustment in college students

摘要: Perfectionism is a construct only recently operationalized in the literature, with need identified discovering its relationship to attachment style and patterns of adjustment college. The first hypothesis was that positive correlation would be evidenced between insecure maladaptive perfectionism. second predicted perfectionism weaker for students styles than those secure style. Participants were 64 first-year undergraduate from Pacific University Reed College. Self-report measures used measure variables Multidimensional Scale (MPS), Experiences Close Relationship (ECR), Student Adaptation College Questionnaire (SACQ). A Pearson product-moment correlational analysis utilized determine strength direction relationships subscales. Findings indicated supported, as found Doubts about Actions subscale MPS Attachment Avoidance ECR. unsupported, Parental Criticism Personal Emotional SACQ. These findings counter previous literature could a) indicate resiliency emotional development or b) externalization problems. Future directions include identifying control streamline response these constructs history social connectedness protective factor aiding resiliency.
