摘要: Brachionus plicatilis females were maintained for > 24 hours in water where the concentration of oxygen was precisely controlled (spherical flasks with ≥ 6 mg 1−1 or < 0.5 1−1; food = dead Tetraselmis sp.). Each female randomly taken from one flask and quickly placed an observation chamber containing same experimental conditions. The swimming path videotaped (5 minutes); then size measured. tape analyzed by automatic tracking (25 x, y coordinates center animal, a 512 × pixels space). ~45 both treatments. speed (mm s−1 body length−1) calculated all trajectories, only those segments swam horizontal plane. This relative significantly decreased when very low. There negative correlation between linear angular speed. spatial sinuosity (‘S’ Bovet & Benhamou, 1988) calculated. trajectories more sinuous These results could explain accumulation some rotifers oxycline; may spend time low concentrations slowing turning more.
