摘要: Smooth muscle tumors (leiomyosarcomas) are the second most prevalent malignancy of children with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). We have investigated tumors, plasma, and peripheral white blood cells eight AIDS smooth for evidence tumor association human virus (HIV) Epstein-Barr (EBV). Very low levels HIV were found in patients, probably resulting from blood-borne carriage virus. These had very high quantities EBV all by situ hybridization, an average 4.5 genomes per cell quantitative polymerase chain reaction amplification. Increased amounts two patients before time diagnosis. clonality studies demonstrated different monoclonal infection separate colonic one patient, dual or mixed another patient. The leiomyomas leiomyosarcomas prominent staining antibodies to receptor. uniform distribution striking amount demonstrates that is capable infecting these support replication. Clonal proliferation suggests occurs at early stage development. findings indicate has a causal role oncogenesis AIDS.
