摘要: The recognition sites in 70 pairwise protein-protein complexes of known three-dimensional structure are dissected a set surface patches by clustering atoms at the interface. When interface buries <2000 A2 protein surface, usually form single patch on each component protein. In contrast, larger interfaces generally multipatch, with least one pair that equivalent size to single-patch Each site, or within contains core made buried atoms, surrounded rim remain accessible solvent complex. A simple geometric model reproduces number and distribution patch. is similar composition rest but has distinctive amino acid composition, which may help identifying potential proteins structures.
