摘要: Abstract Ionic liquids (ILs) are solutions comprised of cation/anion pairs that not limited by the electrochemical side reactions common to aqueous solution. The high stability ionic liquid provides large potential windows can encompass thermodynamic potentials for reduction f-elements such as cerium metal. direct dissolution Ce2(CO3)3·xH2O into trimethyl-n-butylammonium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide [Me3NBu][TFSI] using conjugate acid [HTFSI] is demonstrated. displacement carbonate ligand and formation carbonic facilitates in situ dissolution. subsequent coordination Ce with TFSI ion IL monitored UV/vis spectroscopy emergent metal transitions below 300 nm. Further evidence based on changes IR spectra absorbance bands related sulfonyl functional groups anion. reduction/oxidation soluble examined at Au, Pt, GC (glassy carbon) electrodes. Multi-wave voltammetry all three electrodes consistent reductive deposition species from Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) confirm mica/Au
