Physicians' views on hormone therapy around and after menopause

摘要: Abstract Estrogens and progestins are commonly increasingly used during after menopause. We studied Finnish physicians' views of this hormone therapy based on their specialty. A questionnaire was sent to a stratified random sample gynecologists, internists, general practitioners nonspecialists n = 500; response rate 74%). Reported prescription habits opinions concerning benefits harms hormones were asked compared current literature. Combined much more popular than estrogen alone. One fourth the physicians said should be preventively given all or those at risk for osteoporosis. Long therapies accepted by many our patient cases recommended other medical therapies. Most considered prevention osteoporosis benefit combined therapy, but varied. Gynecologists had most favourable them very useful; characterized uncertainities about its long term effects.
