摘要: Eucalyptol, also known as 1,8-cineole, is a monoterpene traditionally used to treat respiratory disorders due its secretolytic properties. In addition myorelaxant effects, it has anti-inflammatory actions in vitro. this study, we aimed evaluate the efficacy of acute treatment with 1,8-cineole on reducing airway inflammatory parameters. Ovalbumin (OVA)-sensitized guinea pigs were submitted antigenic challenge (OVA) or without pre-treatment single dose administered by inhalation. Airway parameters reduced absent 1,8-cineole-treated animals compared untreated pigs. Acute impaired development hyperresponsiveness carbachol isolated tracheal rings. Levels pro-inflammatory cytokines TNFα and IL-1β was lower bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) 1,8-cineol-treated than animals. 1,8-Cineole OVA-induced increase myeloperoxidase activity BALF. prevented reduction mucociliary clearance induced antigen presentation. The present investigation provides evidence that inhaled prevents inhibits inflammation airways ovalbumin-challenged
