摘要: Monika Kehoe (1986) described older lesbians as "a triply invisible minority.‟ In this dissertation I seek to establish whether that description is still valid and, if so, why. go on ask, are culturally / discursively invisible, what the circumstances which can enable them be seen? and could gained from visibility? By analysing a range of cultural texts demonstrate that, although visibility women has steadily increased in recent years, rarely represented popular culture or media. Academic research reflects blindness: gerontology largely ignores non-heterosexual subjects, while lesbian gay studies marginalise old. then use case study documentary film Women Like Us (Neild Pearson, 1990) investigate social political forces become visible, importance these representations. conclude Britain today rendered by combination sexism, ageism hetero-sexism; lack media representation been decisive factor maintaining their invisibility; there need for further neglected area.
