Timing of complementary feeding and associations with maternal and infant characteristics: A Norwegian cross-sectional study.

摘要: Norwegian Health authorities recommend solid food to be introduced between child age 4-6 months, depending on both the mother´s and infant's needs. The aim of this paper is describe timing complementary feeding in a current sample mother/infant-dyads explore potential associations introduction foods wide range maternal infant characteristics known from previous literature influence early interactions. based data randomized controlled trial Early Food for Future Health. In 2016, total 715 mothers completed web-based questionnaire at 5.5 months. We found that 5% infants were before 4 months age, while 14% not age. Introduction was associated with being exclusive breastfed first month, receiving only formula milk 3 mother younger, married/cohabitant, smoking, less educated having more economic difficulties. Not girl, breastmilk older, married or children. This study shows there are still clear socioeconomic differences regarding Norway. Infants smoking higher risk fed compliance official recommendations. Our findings emphasize importance targeting socioeconomically disadvantaged support healthy practices focusing infant`s needs prevent onset social inequalities health.
