摘要: A cross-sectional study was undertaken in Aotearoa New Zealand to investigate the relationship between socioeconomic deprivation and risk of an unintentional fatal domestic fire incident. Addresses incidents were geocoded small area (census meshblock) level analysed with index deprivation. Fatal occurred disproportionately dwellings most socioeconomically deprived meshblocks. Annual rates per 100,000 households decile significantly higher than least (RR 5.6, 95%CI 1.9-16). Strategies prevent related deaths must overcome barriers household safety population groups experiencing increased risk, including deprived, seniors, ethnic minorities. Specific intervention strategies relevant risks associated include improving quality affordability housing; increasing prevalence installed functioning smoke detectors; regulation specific characteristics cigarettes reduce ignition from abandoned heat sources. Substantial progress awaits reduction underlying determinants disadvantage.
