摘要: Background: Propylthiouracil (PTU) used in the treatment of maternal hyperthyroidism early pregnancy may be associated with a higher prevalence birth defects face and neck region urinary system but severity these complications remains to elucidated. Methods: Review hospital-registered cases after PTU exposure pregnancy. We obtained information on redeemed prescription child diagnosis defect from nationwide registers for all children born Denmark between 1996 2008 (n=817,093). The were followed until December 31, 2010 (median age, 8.3 years) Cox proportional hazards model was estimate adjusted hazard ratio (HR) 95% confidence interval (CI) having versus nonexposed (n=811,730). Results: Fourteen identified pregnancy; 11 exposed only (n=564), whereas 3 mothers who switched methimazole (MMI)/carbimazole (CMZ) (n=159). Among only, HR 4.92 (95% CI 2.04–11.86) 2.73 (1.22–6.07). Looking into details 14 cases, 7 diagnosed (preauricular branchial sinus/fistula/cyst) had (single cyst kidney hydronephrosis). Surgical registered 6 system. Two also other (genital organs). Conclusions: report possible PTU-associated defects. They tend less severe than observed MMI/CMZ exposure. Yet, majority affected undergo surgery.
