Prediction of Fe{sup 2+} concentrations using laboratory rate law in wetlands constructed for acid mine drainage treatment

摘要: Laboratory rate laws for abiotic and biological Fe{sup 2+} oxidation were combined into a model to predict concentrations in ponds constructed mine drainage treatment. Field measurements made twenty-two seven passive treatment facilities with 2.8 5.5. Combining (T. ferrooxidans) allows prediction of 3 pond volume {approx} initial concentration > DO. These results suggest that may be undersized unless pH are considered. Measured T. ferrooxidans concentrationsmore » four six orders magnitude lower than required the reproduce measure concentrations, which suggests either measured bacteria from this study too low, law attributes little catalytic effect each bacterial cell, or both.
