摘要: OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the influence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and situation drug consumption on neuropsychological impairment in asymptomatic HIV-positive (HIV+) former intravenous users (IVDUs) Spanish nationality. BACKGROUND: Currently, we have no data about HIV+ IVDUs taking into account different situations consumption. METHOD: A evaluation was made four groups IVDUs: 33 abstinent IVDUs, 21 methadone-maintained 27 HIV-negative (HIV-) HIV- IVDUs. Their rates were determined as a reference performance 23 subjects without history abuse. RESULTS: The rate patients (48%) that those abstinence (24%) is greater than similar condition (19% 11%). group significantly HIV+. Methadone-maintained with fewer education years not impaired; likewise, percentages significant immunodepression, detectable viral load, antiretroviral treatments are higher among impairment. CONCLUSIONS: This study emphasizes association HIV reveals importance relation to this risk, being more likely suffer from it. fact seems be related worsening its treatment educational level.
