摘要: Background  This review describes procedures to reduce and eliminate physical restraint of people with intellectual disability. One approach is assess antecedent conditions associated change them so that they no longer produce restraint-provoking behaviour. A second decrease the duration by establishing a fixed-time release (FTR) criterion. Methods  Research supporting these approaches within community-based service settings are presented. Results  Physical can be effectively reduced eliminated using intervention FTR contingencies. Conclusions  Future research on reduction elimination should conducted among Intervention include explicit therapeutic goals methods acceptable providers. Outcome evaluation focus long-term follow-up over months years. Finally, organizations serving who have disability dedicating sufficient resources adopting evidence-based practices.
