摘要: Abstract The need to improve the flow rate and maintain quality of filtrate using ceramic pot filter (CPF) so as access potable water in rural areas informed this work. Mixtures clay, diatomite sawdust were utilized production CPFs. percentage mixtures were; A (sawdust 65, clay 25, 10) B 60, 15), C 50, 25) D 45, 30). Physical analyses done after firing at 850 °C 950 °C. Chemical characterization sample with compounded was X-ray fluorescence spectrophotometer diffractometer. solid casting method employed CPFs fired rates determined, Sample A, giving highest 2.5 L/h followed by (2.0 L/h), (0.2 L/h) (0.06 L/h). Results showed that has best physical properties temperature 850 °C. choice further tested compared B, usage treating samples from a community. morphology selected determined Scanning Electron Microscope. Analyses untreated treated removal efficiencies for turbidity, TDS, TSS, E coli coliform 79%, 64%, 62%, 100% respectively. All results obtained within WHO limit. confirmed suitability materials production.
