摘要: ObjectiveThe study examined the efficacy of family-based and adolescent-only HIV prevention programs in decreasing risk improving parental monitoring sexual communication among youths mental health treatment.MethodsA randomized controlled trial (RCT) with 721 adolescents (ages 13–18 years) their caregivers from settings three U.S. cities were randomly assigned to one theory-based, structured group interventions: prevention, promotion. Interventions delivered during an all-day workshop. Assessments completed at baseline months postintervention.ResultsCompared those intervention, interventions reported fewer unsafe sex acts (adjusted rate ratio=.49, p=.01), greater condom use relative change=59%, likelihood avoiding odds ratio=1.44, p=.05).
