摘要: The adsorption of formaldehyde on the clean Ru(001) surface and a which an ordered p(2x2) overlayer oxygen adatoms is present has been investigated via high resolution electron energy loss vibrational spectroscopy thermal desorption mass spectrometry. On surface, bonding interaction at 80 K primarily ..pi..Co donation ..pi../sub CO/* backdonation, leading to decomposition adsorbed hydrogen CO for low exposures. With subsequent exposure formaldehyde, small fractional coverage (theta = 0.02-0.03) eta/sup 2/-formyl observed, followed by formation 2/-formaldehyde 0.10) 1/-formaldehyde saturation (monolayer) coverage. Upon heating, decomposes 120 K, desorbs molecularly between 130 180 K. Further heating remaining 2/-formaldehyde, measurements indicate that total quarter monolayer under these conditions.
