Searching for the Prosocial Personality: A Big Five Approach to Linking Personality and Prosocial Behavior

摘要: The search for the prosocial personality has been long and controversial. current research explores general patterns underlying decisions, linking personality, emotion, overt behavior. Using a multimethod approach, we explored links between Big Five dimensions of responding. Across three studies, found that agreeableness was dimension most closely associated with emotional reactions to victims in need help, subsequent decisions help those individuals. Results suggest processes, including emotions, cognitions, behaviors, may be part more motivational process linked personality.
