Segmenting Visitors to Battlefield Sites: International Visitors to The Former Demilitarized Zone in Vietnam

摘要: ABSTRACT Paradoxically, part of the appeal Vietnam as an emerging destination lies in commodification images, artifacts, and battlefield sites War. While studied from supply-side, little research has been undertaken yet terms patterns demand for tourism. Based on a survey 481 visitors to former Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), this article uses factor analysis cluster segment then profile based their motivations. Three groups DMZ were identified: Battlefield Tourism Enthusiast, Opportunist, Passive Tourists. Significant differences found between three segments with regard various sociodemographics trip characteristics. However, results study also emphasize that analyses site visits should be contextualized country whole care must taken distinguishing specialist generalists.
