摘要: The emerald ash borer (EAB; Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire) is causing widespread mortality of (Fraxinus spp.) in North America. To date, no mechanisms host resistance have been identified against this pest. Methyl jasmonate was applied to susceptible American and resistant Asian species determine if it can elicit induced responses bark that enhance EAB. In particular, phenolic compounds, lignin, defense-related proteins were quantified, compounds associated with subsequently tested directly EAB larvae bioassays artificial diet. MeJA application decreased adult emergence species, comparable levels achieved by insecticide application. Concentration the compound verbascoside sharply increased after green white ash. When incorporated an diet, survival growth neonates a dose-dependent fashion. Lignin trypsin inhibitors also MeJA, analogs both reduced diets. We conclude prior attack has ability trees inducing endogenous plant defenses, report evidence induction mechanism
