Morphometric analysis of sub-watersheds in the pavagada area of Tumkur district, South India using remote sensing and gis techniques

摘要: The study area covers 570 km2 comprising of 9 sub-watersheds (Dalavayihalli, Maddalenahalli, Talamaradahalli, Puluvalli tank, Nagalamadike, Gowdatimmanahalli, Naliganahalli, Devadabetta and Byadanur) range from 49 to 75 forming part Pennar river basin around Pavagada. drainage network was delineated using remote sensing data - Geocoded FCC bands 2 3 4 IRS 1 C D (LISS III+PAN merged) on 1:50,000 scale SOI topomaps were used as reference. morphometric analysis has been carried out GIS softwares Arclnfo Are View. shows that the terrain exhibits dendritic sub-dendritic pattern. Stream orders ranges fourth fifth order. Drainage density varies between 1.55 2.16 km/ very coarse texture. relief ratio 0.006 0.021. mean bifurcation 3.21 4.88 falls under normal category. elongation Devedabetta sub-watershed possesses circular shape while remaining mark elongated Hence it can be concluded techniques proved a competent tool in analysis.
