From food availability to nutritional capabilities: Advancing food security analysis

摘要: Abstract This paper has a threefold objective. First, it provides comprehensive review of different approaches to analysing food security. Second, highlights the added value provided by capability approach and human development paradigm. Third, proposes methodology assess security through this approach. Our proposal entails three basic steps: (1) analysis entitlements; (2) nutritional capabilities (3) be secure. In way, we can move beyond income, entitlement or livelihood related frameworks, identify root causes insecurity. Food insecurity result lack education, health other that constitute people’s wellbeing. This, therefore, allows situating study within broader area wellbeing development.
