摘要: Shear band in metallic crystals is localized deformation with high dislocation density, which often observed nanopillar experiments. The shear dynamics coupled activities, however, remains unclear. Here, we investigate the dynamic processes of and body-centered cubic (BCC) tungsten nanowires via an integrated approach situ nanomechanical testing atomistic simulation. We find a strong effect surface orientation on nucleation nanowires, {111} surfaces act as favorite sites under strain. While activities region give rise to initially thin band, self-catalyzed stress concentration at interfaces cause discrete thickening band. Our findings not only advance current understanding defect morphology BCC but also shed light other microscopic where jerky motion observed.
