摘要: During the 1970's South and West census regions accounted for 89.9 percent of incremental U.S. population 72.5 nonagricultural employment. These figures are sharply higher than corresponding any other decade in history. For example, during 1930's gained 65.4 national population, which was highest share previously recorded. The immediate cause interregional shifts is fairly heavy net out-migration from Northeast North Central to West, combined with birth rates that near historical low levels. Interactive relationships employment growth migration reinforce one another probably operating, but these not well understood. They focus this paper.
