摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses characteristics, taxonomy, distribution, abundance, and ecology of Cephalorhynchus Dolphins. The four dolphins the genus are small coastal species. They blunt-headed, chunky with rounded, almost paddle-shaped flippers. most characteristic feature is dorsal fin, which proportionately large, either a shallowly sloping leading edge convex trailing [like Mickey Mouse ear: Hector's ( C. hectori ), Commerson's commersonii Chilean eutropia )] or upright roughly triangular (Heaviside's dolphin, heavisidii ). In color pattern, similar. found only in Southern Hemisphere waters. Heaviside's dolphin occurs off west coast South Africa Namibia. solely New Zealand. waterways Chile along exposed coast. All species feed on wide variety prey, focusing benthic pelagic schooling fish squid.
