摘要: Damage to the hippocampus typically produces temporally graded retrograde amnesia, whereby memories acquired recently are impaired more than remotely. This phenomenon has been demonstrated repeatedly in a variety of species and tasks, it figured prominently theoretical treatments memory hippocampal function. A striking exception finding amnesia comes from studies with rodents using spatial tasks like water maze. In these studies, recent remote were similarly following lesions. contrast work rodents, patients medial temporal lobe lesions, including complete indicate that can be intact. One difference between humans is animal during limited period time when animals adults. contrast, studied was beginning at an early age learning continued for considerable time. We initiated training standard maze immediately after rats had weaned 21 days until young adults (90 old). Large lesions made 100 completion training. After recovery surgery, control exhibited good retention on first probe trial, but performed chance. Thus, even extended life, prolonged training–surgery interval, impair performance task. Possible reasons findings discussed context specific requirements
