摘要: Background Preoperative malnutrition is associated with increased postoperative complication rate and hospital length of stay. However, the degree to which these risks can be mitigated by nutritional consultation has not been well described. To address this, we sought determine if a preoperative nutrition consult was decreased 30-day Methods Adult patients who underwent neurosurgical intervention for spinal metastases at tertiary care institution between 2008 2016 were retrospectively reviewed. Stepwise multivariable linear regression analyses used identify associations Results Among 95 met inclusion criteria, average stay 8.9 days 40 (42.1%) experienced one or more complications. On analysis, rates higher in absence consult, Modified Charlson Comorbidity Index score greater than 2 points, operative blood loss, (Nutritional Risk Conclusions receipt both shorter hospitalization. We therefore posit that implementation counseling may help decrease expedite discharge undergoing surgical metastases.
