摘要: Objectives To discuss the extent to which an undergraduate dental module addresses public health competencies via its different learning pedagogies and explore relevance of students' written reflections on these competencies. Methods This article uses a literature review situate are addressed by University British Columbia entitled “Professionalism Community Services” (PACS). It also individual self-reflections (between 100 500 words) community service activities critically illustrate how support their learning. Results The PACS is delivered students in all 4 years, more than 190 total, six competencies, including oral promotion, ethics, evidence-based practice. The multifaceted pedagogical approach employed aspects dentistry related includes guest lectures, activities, small group self-reflection, reports. Conclusions Given falling number professionals North America, discussed pedagogy aims sensitize future dentists career focused health. Through reflections, pondered ideas health; they engaged developing meaningful various underserved communities. Further studies needed evaluate influence this community-based curriculum upon practice choice.
