摘要: In zebra finches the song control nuclei hyperstriatum ventralis pars caudalis (HVc) and area X of lobus parolfactorius (LPO), continue to add new neurons during juvenile period learning. Normally, males many more these cells than do females (who not sing), leading pronounced sexual dimorphism within regions. Exposing estradiol (E2) shortly after hatching masculinizes HVc such sing in response later androgen stimulation. We investigated whether exposing female hatchlings E2 stimulates incorporation born period, stimulation further influences addition late-generated neurons. Females were implanted with on day 3 received either empty or dihydrotestosterone (DHT)-filled capsules 25. These females, normal [3H]thymidine daily between 20 40 days killed at 65 days. Autoradiographic analyses X-LPO revealed that neuron number, as well incidence number thymidine-labeled was increased E2-treated levels approaching those typical males. DHT did influence measures females. data indicate promotes production, migration, survival period.
