摘要: Diversification is nested, and early models suggested this could lead to a great deal of evolutionary redundancy in the Tree Life. This result based on particular set branch lengths produced by common coalescent, where pendant branches leading tips can be very short compared deeper tree. Here, we analyze alternative more realistic Yule birth-death models. We show how censoring at present both makes average one half what might expect interior roughly equal length. Although dependent whether condition size tree, its age, or both, these results hold for model with moderate extinction. Importantly, rough equivalency exterior means loss history species linear. Under models, Life may offer limited face ongoing loss.
