Continuation of CPR on admission to emergency department after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Occurrence, characteristics and outcome

摘要: Abstract Aim: To describe the occurrence, characteristics and outcome among patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest who required continuation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on admission to emergency department. Patients: all in municipality Goteborg suffered arrest, were reached by medical service (EMS) system whom CPR was initiated. Period for inclusion study: 1 Oct. 1980-31 Dec. 1992. Results: 3434 arrests, 2319 (68%) receiving on-going at time hospital. Of these, 137 (6%) hospitalized alive 28 (1.2%) could be discharged from these patients, 39% had a cerebral performance categories (CPC) score (no deficiency), 18% CPC 2 (moderate 36% 3 (severe deficiency) 7% 4 (coma) discharge. Among discharged, 76% after year. Conclusion: consecutive ongoing 68% them 6% 1.2% Thus, hospital, survivors can found but they are few numbers extensive damage is frequently present.
