摘要: Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) are sulfated polysaccharides of complex structure endowed with numerous biomedical functions. Although ubiquitously distributed in vertebrates, GAGs can also occur certain terrestrial or marine invertebrates. Solution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy has been the analytical technique mostly employed structural characterization from any source. This review aims at illustrating application NMR determination few representative invertebrate GAG examples unique structures and therapeutic actions. They holothurian fucosylated chondroitin sulfate, acharan sulfate isolated snail Achatina fulica, dermatan sulfates distinct sulfation patterns extracted ascidian species, glucuronic acid-containing heparan gastropode Nodipecten nodosum, hybrid heparin/heparan molecule obtained shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei. These exhibit when compared to those mammalian GAGs. The lead different mechanisms actions as standards. Invertebrate comprise promising candidates fights against diseases. playing a pivotal role this carbohydrate-based drug research, discovery development.
