摘要: We describe a mutant of Zea mays isolated from W22 inbred transposon population, widow's peak mutant1 (wpk1), with an altered pattern anthocyanin synthesis and aleurone cell differentiation in endosperm. In addition, failure the developing embryo to form leaf initials is associated decreased expression subset meristem regulatory genes that includes Abphyl1 Td1. show viviparous8 (vp8) has similar pleiotropic phenotype background contrast viviparous exhibited standard genetic background, we confirmed wpk1 allelic vp8. Further analysis revealed vp8 stock contains unlinked, partially dominant suppressor mutation not present W22. Consistent early-onset vp8, several embryonic regulators, including LEC1/B3 domain transcription factors, was reduced embryo. Moreover, abscisic acid (ABA) content vp8/wpk1 embryos correlated regulation ABA biosynthesis, as well catabolic pathways. The biosynthetic gene Vp14 down-regulated nonsuppressed whereas ZmABA8'oxA1a 8'-hydroxylase strongly up-regulated both backgrounds. Molecular Vp8 encodes putative peptidase closely related Arabidopsis thaliana ALTERED MERISTEM PROGRAM1. Because regulates development seed maturation processes, accumulation, propose VP8 required for unidentified signal integrates formation seeds.
