摘要: Detailed faunal, isotopic, and lithic marine records provide new insight into the stability climate progression of last interglacial period, Marine Isotope Stage (MIS) 5, which peaked approximately 125,000 years ago. In eastern subpolar North Atlantic, at latitude Ireland, warmth ice volume minimum substage 5e (MIS 5e) lasted 10,000 (10 ka) its demise occurred in two cooling steps. The first step marked end climatic optimum, was 2–3 ka long. Minor rafting accompanied each step; second, larger, encompassing cold events C26 C25 previously identified northwestern Atlantic. Approximately 41C between peak C25, region experienced an additional temporary least 1–21C during C24, a event associated with widespread Beginning MIS 5 characterized by oscillations superimposed on generally cool baseline. results this study imply that optimum shorter than thought. finding Atlantic cooled significantly before C24 reconciles terrestrial evidence for progressive deterioration similar lower latitudes conditions. Our also demonstrate close association modest rafting, cooling, deep ocean circulation even earliest stages growth.
