A curriculum framework for a tertiary sustainability course

摘要: Sustainability is an increasingly important component of government policy in a progressive and complex world. In addition to climate change, problems such as depletion natural resources, declining fossil fuel energy limitations on food fresh water, coupled with the inexorable pressure resources imposed by growing human global population, all demand urgent attention effective remedial action. It therefore not surprising that sustainability courses at tertiary level are becoming popular. Although sustainable development currently widely used term, it multi-disciplinary concept which has variety meanings interpretations. The situation made more having workable definition sustainability. generally realised potential address fundamental challenges for humanity change food, water depletion, both now future. However, do this, needs greater clarity meaning, especially relation environmental sustainability, embracing principles link ‘social’, ‘economic’, ‘political’ ‘ecosystem’ elements ‘human equity’. This paper attempt suggest viable curriculum framework course encompasses many components reveals how these individually collectively contemporary issues escalating degradation change. Chemical education essential enabling features this course.
