摘要: Grewia asiatica L., an Asian shrub, is indigenous to India. Despite its immense importance in the Ayurvedic and traditional systems of medicine scientific commercial exploration has been neglected. In this direction, we undertook systematic studies understand sexual system, breeding behaviour reproductive phenology deployed by species. Our results suggest that species practices mixed mating as a consequence temporal dichogamy protandrous type herkogamy with stigma slightly above stamens. Sequential floral evocation acropetal order profuse visitation pollinators predispose G. receive cross pollen. situation non-receipt pollen through insect pollinators, self-fertilization prevalent recurvation receptive towards dehiscent anthers. Seed set efficiency fruit maturation are independent genotype (self/cross). Pre-emergent success (PERS), measure number viable seeds enter ambient environment, was around 21%, which indicative moderate success. A self-compatibility index (SCI) self-fertility (SFI) showed values 0.66 0.55, respectively, indicating self-fertile self-compatible nature asiatica. The present study provides detailed exposition various features system These aspects fundamental or failure for genetic variation, crop improvement evolutionary
