Contact Between Incarcerated Mothers and Their Children: Assessing Parenting Stress

摘要: Abstract Incarcerated mothers (n = 357) at a maximum-security prison participated in study of the relationship between contact and parenting stress, using stress index for incarcerated women (PSI-IW; Houck & Loper, 2002). The examined before incarceration frequency telephone, letter, visitation during incarceration, as well related to attachment, parental competence, visitation. Mothers who were responsible their child's care more likely write letters least several times week, speak with child on telephone once receive visits from four year. Results indicated that higher levels children associated reduced stress. In particular, letter writing was increased attachment improved sense competence.
