摘要: Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1)-infected persons have high rates of herpes simplex 2 (HSV-2) infection, ranging from 50% to 90% in studies HIV-infected populations different parts the world. Genital with HIV (HIV-1) infection is associated more-severe and chronic lesions, as well increased asymptomatic genital shedding HSV-2. Nucleoside analogues (acyclovir, valacyclovir, famciclovir) decrease frequency severity HSV-2 recurrences reactivation are effective, safe, well-tolerated drugs patients HIV-1 infection. These anti-HSV may result additional clinical public health benefits for coinfection by decreasing levels blood tract. Given these benefits, HIV-1-infected should be routinely tested using type-specific serologic tests. Persons offered education treatment options. Studies quantify potential treating individuals who therapy underway.
