Transverse Cracking and Stiffness Reduction in Composite Laminates

摘要: A systematic classification of the effects transverse cracking on stress-strain response composite laminates is presented. Stiffness reductions resulting from in glass/epoxy and graphite/epoxy crack initiation to saturation are predicted using stiffness-damage relationships developed by author a previous work. Good agreement with experimental results found. An assessment ply discount method for predicting stiffness at also made.
