摘要: Abstract Community surveillance revealed 1085 prevalent cases of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) during 1978 in urban metropolitan Columbia and rural Pee Dee areas South Carolina. Six hundred fifty-eight hospitalized met our criteria were classified as definite or probable. Death certificates identified 427 who died before admission to the hospital unvalidated. However, there is need verify death certificate diagnosis out-of-hospital deaths which account for approximately two thirds total blacks about one third white cases. Other findings were: (1) White males had higher AMI rates area than Columbia, while black females similar both areas. (2) Rates mortality whites. (3) Out-of-hospital four times Minneapolis-St. Paul 1978. (4) For all criterial AMI, highest rates, double male rate except where similar. (5) Urban races experienced more anterior infarctions
